Chris Murphy began fishing at the age of 7, accompanying his father to bait fish for flounder in Rhode Island and instantly became addicted to angling. Growing up in a military family, Chris has had the opportunity to fish for multiple species across the country, pursuing Louisiana bass, Pennsylvania trout, Great Lakes steelhead, and Shenandoah smallmouth.
His passion for the outdoors led to a B.S. in Biology from Virginia Tech, where he could “occasionally” be found fishing the New River for smallmouth rather than attending class.
In 2009 Chris created Native Trout Fly Fishing, a guide service for trout, bass and muskie in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
While watching “The Bassmasters” on TNN at the age of 12, Chris made a promise to himself that he would compete in a major B.A.S.S. event in his lifetime, and that promise was fulfilled in 2012.
Chris enters 2013 as a boater with a full Bassmaster Weekend Series schedule:
- TBF (The Bass Federation) schedule
- Two B.A.S.S Opens
- 2 Everstart series Events scheduled
Chris loves to share information about fishing techniques, strategies, and results, and is very active in the online social fishing community.
