Dek-It Electronics Mounting Systemby Jeremy Baird March 23, 2015
The Deck-It mounting system from PROcise Outdoors, is a must in my boat. The high quality aluminum and pre drilled hole patterns fits almost any electronics out there, it will even fit around most recessed trolling motor pedals. You can also get ones to accommodate your external GPS antennas.
I have found that the Dek-it Mounts are very strong! While chasing those little green and brown fish up and down the lake like I do, I have snuffed a wave or two. This mount has held strong and you don’t get your unit smashing down on your deck when you crash down on a big wave, like with those Ram style mounts. Don’t get me wrong; there is a place for ram mounts; I also have one of these. With the Dek-It mount, your graph is positioned on your bow, out of the way, giving you more space to fish and easy access to all the graph buttons. If you don’t have one on your boat, you don’t know what you’re missing.
The Dek-It Mount from PROcise Outdoors has been thoroughly tested by the likes of Brandon Palaniuk from the Bassmaster Elites, and others. If you have watched the St. Lawrence showdown video clip on you tube, where Brandon makes that 100-mile run into Lake Ontario. you will see that he has the Dek-it mount installed on his bow; and almost all his fish are caught using his front graph. His boat took a pounding for 4 plus days and the mount held up.
Materials Needed to Install the Dek-It Mount:
- Drill and a drill bit for fiberglass
- Impact driver
- A level / tape measure
- Stainless steel screws
- Marine silicone
How to Install the Dek-It Mount:
Start by placing the Deck-it Mount where you would like it to sit. This next step is very important; stand on the deck of your boat to see if you can move around. Also ensure that your fish finder’s wires will reach before you start drilling any holes. Use your level and tape measure to ensure that the mount is on straight; you don’t want it to look crooked. Once you have found the right placement, mark the holes on the carpet, then remove the Dek-it mount and drill your holes. Ensure that you are not drilling into any wires. Place the Dek-it Mount over the holes, and with a touch of silicone on each screw. Use an impact gun to screw them in snug. Check to see if the mount is in place by trying to wiggle it with your hands (there should be no play). Run your wires through the hole in the mount for your fish finder. Then add your gimbal mount and screen.
