Fishing Eels Lake – July 2012by Grant Pentiricci July 25, 2012
Species Target: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass
- Conditions: Temperature 30C
- Precipitation: 0mm
- Wind: 0km/hr
- Clear Skies all day.
A few friends and I were up in the Kawarthas area are for a week of binge fishing. We had just finished dinner and went out onto the lake for a few hours of evening fishing. We had fished all day in difficult clear skies conditions and knew that dusk was prime time.
We fished shallow structure for largemouth bass and found several in laydowns and stumps. They were caught using slow presentations with natural colours. We moved onto one of the several shoals and successfully tried for smallies. We caught some great size fish that fought really hard!
Nothing beats getting a few hours of fishing in on a nice warm evening.
