Ice Arctic Angler Ultimate Glove System with Liner – Product Review

Fishing until lakes start to ice over means being out in some pretty miserable conditions. The fall and winter produce some fantastic angling opportunities which means that warm gloves are a must. Gloves are equally important to anglers that ice fish during the winter months so I thought that a quick review on these gloves was in order. Hopefully there is information that helps those of you looking for some cold weather gloves.
Pros
First feature that really drew my attention was the neoprene construction of the glove. Having done some diving I know that neoprene is fantastic for trapping body heat and also blocking the wind. These gloves didn’t disappoint me! With the finger tips pulled on I was pretty much invulnerable to the wind and cold. My fingers stayed warm!
I liked the fact that these gloves had slits in the fingers where I could pull the back to re-tie on or to do things that required finger tip dexterity. I was also drawn to the fact that these gloves came with inner liners that were warm. I’m a fan of layers and that’s a trick I have found has kept me warm over the years, so I was happy that this company agreed with me. The gloves also have a drawstring and an extra large cuff that is amazing at stopping wind from getting up your sleeve.
Cons
Upon using these gloves, I found that putting them on takes some planning. I had to make sure that I put these gloves on before putting on my outer shell as I wanted the large cuffs under my outer layer. I guess having the cuffs over the outer layer isn’t a big deal, but I was filming and my co-angler mentioned that the gloves looked like rubber dish washing gloves. If you don’t care about that, then it’s not really an issue.
Another con about these gloves is the durability. During their use I was repeatedly folding the fingertips back to re-tie or do other
things. Eventually I found that the Neoprene began to tear. Not good!
The price isn’t very cheap. I paid $29.99 at my local Bass Pro Shop. I think that this is mediocre value. I just wish that the gloves would last past 1 season. BPS does have a 30 day replacement guarantee from the date of purchase, so if your gloves start to tear in the first month of use you can get a replacement on them as long as you keep the receipt. Afterwards you are SOL.
Product features:
- Neoprene glove protects hands from cold and wet conditions
- Slits for thumb, index and middle fingers for easy access
- Textured palm and fingers for a non-slip grip
- Hook n’ Loop tabs secure glove fingers when not in use
- Hook n’ Loop wrist strap allows for fast and easy fit adjustment
- Nylon rip cord for easy fit adjustment and sealing out snow
- Moisture-wicking glove liner provides extra warmth and comfort in extreme cold
In summary, these gloves were amazing! I just wish they were more durable. I would probably recommend these gloves but definitely don’t use the fold-able fingertip feature.
