I am very blessed to have a family that supports my passion for fishing! I grew up in rural Southern Ontario and spent most of my childhood exploring the beautiful countryside of Norfolk County, Ontario. Fishing was a family past time which I quickly took a liking too. Most of my summers were spend chasing smallmouth bass in Long Point Bay (Lake Erie) or chasing largemouth bass in local pits and ponds. To this day I have a warm spot for these places from my angling youth.
I am employed full time as a Fisheries Biologist. My research is focused on fish species at risk and invasive fish species in the Great Lakes Basin. The main focus of our research is fish community (fish species) and fish habitats, mainly in the wetlands, rivers and inland lakes of Ontario. As part of my job I spend 100 or more days on the water for work alone; not to mention any weekend fishing trips. I also fill in some spare time with teaching, lecturing and of course…fishing! It’s truly a great job to have!
I have been an active member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society since 2003. Over the last 10 years I have served in many capacities within the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation. Currently I am the President of the Hamilton Bassmasters and Conservation Director for the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation. I love grass roots fishing organizations, this is where I find much of my enjoyment in the sport of fishing.
As an angler, I take a lot of pride in promoting the amazing sport of angling to anyone that will listen. Since 2012 I have been working with Pure Fishing as an Ambassador. I could not ask for a better group of companies to work with. Representing the Berkley, Abu Garcia, Fenwick, Pflueger, Hodgman, Mitchell, Stren, Penn brands has been a great experience. They are great products which support the past time I enjoy so much!
