As the last day of practice finished Wednesday and Thursday was the official media day, the buzz is about the weather. Will the fish be shallow? or deep? Many anglers that we spoke to have opinions on where fish will position themselves and were out on the last day of practice checking their spots one last time.
Marshals that participated on Wednesday reported that the severe cold and high winds made fishing miserable all day. Boat positioning and line guides icing up hampered the pros all day. Anglers had mixed reactions. Bobby Lane told us that it was “…one of the most frustrating days…” he has ever had fishing. Edwin Evers shared with us that his practice “went well”.
During media interviews on Thursday anglers were very guarded with their predictions trying not to give valuable intel away. We’ve put our interviews with anglers online and attached the links to the end of this article so you can review what the pros think. We can’t blame some of them for being a little guarded; there’s a lot of money riding on this tournament.
Late in the day on Thursday B.A.S.S officials decided to delay the start of the Classic on day 1 until daylight due to extreme cold and possible icing. Many anglers applauded this decision. Safety is paramount.
