Pro Angler Marianne Huskey, Ready to take on the Worldby Marianne Huskey June 30, 2015
Unless you are a walleye tournament fishing fanatic, you may not know who Marianne Huskey is. Well, listen up. Marianne is the only woman to ever have won an Angler of the Year (AOY) title in a professional fishing tournament series that isn’t a female-only organization.
In 2012, Huskey took home the AOY title for the AIM Walleye Series. At the time, the best professional walleye anglers in the United States were fishing AIM and Huskey was the best overall for the season, defeating anglers who are in the Hall of Fame along with dozens of champions.
Huskey continues to compete against the top names in pro walleye fishing, but has branched out by throwing her hat in the ring at various bass fishing events and saltwater tournaments.
So, why does this unique and successful pro angler want to try her luck at the World Predator Classic?
Because it is time for her to spread the message about fishing being a sport for anyone around the world. Female anglers are just as powerful as their male counterparts on the water.
“I want to become more diversified in what I do as a professional angler,” said Huskey. “The World Predator Classic is a perfect platform to do it. Very few people in the United States know about this event, but it’s huge. I want to bring the awareness of this tournament to the US, perform well and make my sponsors and country proud.”
